Ride to Unite (formerly Tour de Unite)

The Ride to Unite will take place on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 am at Francis Park in south St. Louis. The event will start on the race course for The Gateway Cup, a competitive race traditionally held over the Labor Day Weekend. Cyclists will be able to participate in several exciting event components as follows:
Rain or Shine, the Ride to Unite will go on!
We are concerned for everyone’s safety; therefore we encourage each cyclist to carefully decide whether it is safe to ride in the rain, based on your own cycling experience. In the event of rain, the Tandem Adventure Team should call the Delta Gamma Center’s events hotline early Saturday morning to learn whether the team will ride.
Watch for email updates as well! We appreciate every one’s participation in this event and we are still hoping for good weather!
Celebrity Start – Experience the thrill of cycling on a race course! Follow celebrity cyclists, who will be on tandem bicycles with children from Delta Gamma Center’s Tandem Adventurers team, for the first four laps on a closed course before taking to the streets of St. Louis for a community ride. This year’s celebrity cyclists included St. Louis Blues players Andy McDonald and Philip McRae.
We also have pro cyclists from the Jelly Belly team including: Brad Huff, Sean Mazich and Emerson Oronte and, Danny van Haute, 1984 Olympian.
Community Ride – After exiting the race course, cyclists can traverse St. Louis on a well marked and supported route of their choosing from three different lengths; 4, 11 or a 32 mile course. All three courses loop back and end at Francis Park.
Gateway Cup Tour de Francis Park – Participants shouldn’t leave without joining the festivities. The event includes an after-ride-bash from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Festivities include a celebrity meet and greet, music, food and refreshments, vendor booths, photo booth, special awards and prizes and a front row seat to watch the exciting Gateway Cup races.
Event entry is $30 adult/$10 kids and includes a commemorative dri-fit event shirt, bib number and prizes for the kids. Registration Opens at 9:00 a.m.
