DGC provides meaningful and exciting experiences in partnership with several community organizations.  Activities target varied interests, including, but will not limited to: fitness & wellness, creative expression, volunteering, and innovation (design).  Activities bring out the champion, artist, and leader in each participant while building lasting relationships with the community.  On-going programs offered for 2016/17 are listed below:



Monthly GRADS Groups: 

Recreation & support group for school age youth to make friends and enjoy new experiences in the community. Groups meet one Saturday a month throughout the school year, and take an exciting summer challenge trip!

  • Explorers – Age three through age five. Group meets the 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:30-11:00 AM   Learn More

Program Offerings for 2016-2017

Sports & Fitness

  •  Trekker Adventurers:  Fall in love with being outside with this monthly hiking club for youth 7-18 years old.  Hikes will take place on the 2nd Saturday of the month October thru December in the St. Charles and St. Louis County Parks.  Each adventure will vary in challenge, yet appeal to all.

  • Tandem Adventurers: Life is a beautiful ride!    Tandem Adventurers is a unique tandem cycling team for children 10 years and up who are visually impaired.   This group enjoys weekly rides each season from April through September where participants are teamed up with trained captains to enjoy friends and the freedom that cycling  offers , and even a big year-end challenge for those who demonstrate the readiness  to participate.
  • Spin & Core Stengthening: Are you committed to fitness?  This fall and winter activity keeps participants 10 years and older in shape throughout the cold months.  Spinning is a challenging mind and body experience, with a trained instructor, who uses music to motivate participants.  The 45-minute spin session, will be followed by core strengthening in which, participants will focus on breathing, stretching, and building core strength.

Music Program: Experience the Arts

Bring music to life by discovering your passion through this new program!  Offerings are available for a variety of skill levels.  Participants must be at least 3 years old.  Participants in Experience the Arts, must meet the GRADS readiness indicators.

  • Basic: Rhythm & Ear Training   Divided into 6-courses, participants will use instruments to learn basic concepts of music, movement, and how to read music.
  • Appreciation:  Developing an Understanding of Music & Genres through hands-on Exploration Participants will build on the fundamentals of music through these 6 hands-on courses.  By exploring a variety of instruments, participants will discover different musical genres, enjoy creative group experiences, and attend concerts.
  • Advanced Understanding & Music Study:  These 6-courses are for participants who have demonstrated a commitment to music, and a mastery of the fundamentals.  Musicians will explore community opportunities and collaborate with other musicians.



  • Participants must be at least three years old
  • Children should qualify for vision services through their school
  • Parents and staff determine that children are ready to participate in GRADS, based on Readiness indicators
