Early interventionists are regular visitors in families’ homes at a time when they are most vulnerable. By the nature of their jobs, effective professionals are viewed by caregivers as trusted, capable, caring, and knowledgeable people. It is not surprising, therefore, that caregivers naturally often look to these professionals to assist in dealing with issues that relate only indirectly to their children. Cindy will talk about developing and maintaining these important relationships and will help EI providers understand their role in supporting family members and when trained professionals should be called in.
