Sighted children learn about the world through observation of people, places and things around them. In fact, it has been documented that 80-90% of learning takes place through vision. Therefore, a vision loss has a profound impact on every area of development. Jennie will explain this impact and talk about some modifications and accommodations that can be made to enhance development and minimize delays for children with visual impairments.

Jennie Mascheck, TVI, COMS is the Coordinator for Outreach Services at the Missouri School for the Blind (MSB) providing oversight to programs such as the Instructional Resource Center, the Missouri School for the Blind Library Resource Center, MO Deafblind Technical Assistance Project and MO Statewide Parent Involvement Network. Jennie began her career at MSB as a speech and language therapist then went on to obtain her certification as a teacher of students with visual impairments and orientation and mobility specialist.
